Front Bumper: Service and Repair



Front Bumper Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the front fascia extensions. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Extension Replacement (Front Bumper Fascia Extension Replacement) in Body Front End.
2. Remove the lower air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement (Service and Repair) in Body Front End.
3. Disconnect the left and the right side marker lamp sockets.
4. Remove the fog lamps from the brackets, if equipped.
5. Disconnect the electrical harness for the horn.
6. Remove the bolts (3) that secure the bumper to the energy absorbers.
7. Disengage the fascia guides (1).
8. With the aid from an assistant, remove the front bumper by pulling the bumper straight from the vehicle.




9. Remove the plastic retainers (3) that secure the impact bar (1) to the fascia (2)
10. Gently pry the impact bar upper snap tabs from the front bumper fascia (2)
11. Remove the impact bar (1).
12. Release the snap tabs and remove the moldings.
13. Remove the clips that retain the side marker lamps to the fascia.
14. Remove the side marker lamps from the fascia.
15. Remove both front fascia support brackets.


Installation Procedure




1. Install the side marker lamps to the fascia.
2. Install the clips that secure the lamps to the fascia.
3. Position the upper side moldings to the fascia.
Press inward the moldings in order to engage the snap tabs.
4. Install the impact bar (1) to the fascia (2).
5. Install new plastic retainers in order to secure the top of the fascia (2) to the impact bar (1).
6. Install the support brackets to the front fascia.
7. Install new plastic retainers in order to secure the support brackets to the fascia.




8. With the aid of an assistant, position the front bumper to the vehicle.
Ensure that both of the fascia guides (1) are engaged to the front fascia brackets.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

9. Install the bolts (3) in order to secure the impact bar to the energy absorbers.

Tighten the bolts to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

10. Connect the electrical harness for the horn.
11. Install the fog lamps to the mounting brackets, if equipped.
12. Connect the left and the right side marker lamp sockets, rotate the sockets 45 degrees in order to secure.
13. Install the lower air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement (Service and Repair) in Body Front End.
14. Install the front fascia extensions. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Extension Replacement (Front Bumper Fascia Extension Replacement) in Body Front End.
