Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair

CONDENSER REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the radiator.
3. Remove the condenser inlet and outlet lines (1).




4. Remove the condenser to radiator attachment bolts.
5. Remove the condenser (3).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




1. Install the condenser (3) to the radiator.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 12 N.m (9 lb ft).

2. Install the radiator and condenser assembly into the vehicle.




3. Connect the refrigerant lines to the condenser (3).

Tighten
Tighten the condenser line fittings to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

4. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
5. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A.
