Washer Pump/Reservoir - Replacement Procedure Revision

Revised Washer Pump/Reservoir Replacement

Models:
2001 Cadillac Eldorado

This bulletin is being issued to revise the Washer Pump/Reservoir Replacement procedure in the Wipers/Washer Systems sub-section of the Service Manual. Please replace the current information in the Service Manual with the following information.

The following information has been updated within SI2000. If you are using a paper version of this Service Manual, please make a reference to this bulletin on the affected page.





Removal Procedure

1. Remove the air filter housing. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-4.6L.

2. Reposition the powertrain control module.

3. Remove the upper mounting screw securing the washer solvent container to the upper fender rail.

4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.





5. Remove the front bumper fascia (2). Refer to Bumper Replacement - Front in Bumpers.

6. Remove the secondary air injection pump. Refer to Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Pump Replacement in Engine Controls-4.6L.





7. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the level sensor and washer pump.

8. Drain the washer solvent container into a suitable container.

9. Remove the washer pump hose.

10. Remove two nuts securing the washer solvent container to the body rail.

11. Remove the washer solvent container from the vehicle.





12. Remove the washer pump from the washer solvent container.

13. Remove the washer solvent level sensor from the washer solvent container.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the washer solvent level sensor onto the washer solvent container.

2. Install the washer pump onto the washer solvent container.

3. Position the washer solvent container to the body rail.

Notice:
Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.





4. Install the washer solvent container with two nuts.

Tighten

Tighten the two nuts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

5. Connect the electrical connectors.

6. Connect the washer solvent hose to the washer pump.

7. Install the secondary air injection pump. Refer to Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Pump Replacement in Engine Controls-4.6L.





8. Install the front bumper fascia (2). Refer to Bumper Replacement - Front in Bumpers.

9. Lower the vehicle.

Notice:
Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.





10. Install the upper mounting screw to the upper tender rail.

Tighten

Tighten the screw to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

11. Reposition the powertrain control module.

12. Install the air filter housing. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-4.6L.

13. Fill the washer solvent container.
