Telescope Actuator

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
3. Remove the telescoping actuator assembly ball stud.





4. Remove the telescoping actuator assembly to the steering column retaining bolts.
5. Disconnect the telescoping actuator assembly electrical connection.
6. Remove the telescoping actuator assembly.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the telescoping actuator assembly to the steering column.
Connect the telescoping actuator assembly electrical connection.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





2. Install the telescoping actuator assembly retaining bolts.
Tighten the telescoping actuator assembly retaining bolts to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).





3. Install the bolt securing the telescoping actuator assembly to the column.
Tighten the telescoping actuator assembly bolt to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).
4. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
5. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
