Tire Pressure Sensor: Service and Repair

TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR

Removal Procedure

1. Raise the vehicle on a suitable support.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly..
3. Remove the tire from the wheel.





4. Remove the Tire Pressure Sensor nut.
5. Remove the Tire Pressure Sensor.

Installation Procedure

Important: Inspect the rubber grommet at the base of the valve stem. If significant deterioration or damage is observed replace the grommet.





1. Position the Tire Pressure Sensor on the wheel.
Make sure that the grommet around the sensor fits snugly in the hole. Also make sure that the air passage in the sensor is pointing outward (away from the wheel) and that the sensor body is not contacting the wheel.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the Tire Pressure Sensor nut.
Tighten the nut to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.).

Important: Over torquing the sensor can damage the grommet. A torque wrench should be used to verify the proper torque.

3. Install the tire on the wheel.
4. Install the tire and wheel.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Program the Tire Pressure Sensors. Refer to Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensor Programming. Service and Repair
