Console Compartment Door Hinge Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the auxiliary HVAC control from the center console. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement - Auxiliary in HVAC Automatic.
2. Remove the screws (1, 2) from the rear cover (3).
3. Remove the center console rear cover (3).
4. Open the console compartment door.
5. Use a flat bladed tool in order to remove the inner auxiliary HVAC outlet (2).
6. Remove the cellular telephone docking station, if equipped with UV8. Refer to Cellular Telephone Docking Station Replacement (DTS) Cellular Telephone Docking Station Replacement (DeVille and DHS) in Cellular Communications.
7. Remove the screws (1) from the console door hinge.
8. Remove the console door and hinge assembly.
9. Remove the screws (1).
10. Remove the console tray (2).
11. Remove the screws (1).
12. Remove the armrest inner trim panel (2).
13. Remove the door hinge screws (1).
14. Remove the console door hinge (2).
Installation Procedure
1. Align the center console hinge (2) to the armrest.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
2. Install the screws (1).
Tighten the screws to 1.6 N.m (14 lb in).
3. Install the armrest inner trim panel (2).
4. Install the screws (1).
Tighten the screws to 1.6 N.m (14 lb in).
5. If equipped with UV8, Install the Cellular phone docking station. Refer to Cellular Telephone Docking Station Replacement (DTS) Cellular Telephone Docking Station Replacement (DeVille and DHS) in Cellular Communications.
6. Install the console tray (2).
7. Install the console tray screws (1)
Tighten the screws to 1.6 N.m (14 lb in).
8. The center console door has alignment pins next to the top 2 hinge screws.
Align the console lid and hinge assembly to the center console.
9. Install the console hinge screws (1).
Tighten the screws to 1.6 N.m (14 lb in).
10. Install the inner auxiliary HVAC outlet (2).
11. Close the console compartment door.
12. Install the center console rear cover (3).
13. Install the console rear cover screws (1, 2).
Tighten the screws to 1.6 N.m (14 lb in).
14. Install the auxiliary HVAC control. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement - Auxiliary in HVAC Automatic.
15. Ensure proper operation of the console door.
