Evaporator Hose Assembly Replacement
TOOLS REQUIREDJ 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Disconnect the evaporator hose assembly (1) from the accumulator and the snap clamp (2).
3. Disconnect the evaporator hose assembly (2) from the hold down (1) on the right lower frame rail.
4. Disconnect the low temperature sensor electrical connector.
5. Remove the evaporator hose nut (1).
6. Disconnect the evaporator hose assembly (2) from the evaporator core.
7. Remove the upper filler panel.
8. Remove the nut (1) retaining the evaporator hose assembly (3) to the condenser.
9. Disconnect the evaporator hose assembly (3) from the condenser.
10. Remove the evaporator hose assembly.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
IMPORTANT: Inspect the seal washers for damage.
Replace the seal washers that are damaged.
The sealing washers do not require lubrication.
1. Connect the evaporator hose assembly to the condenser.
2. Install the evaporator hose nut.
Tighten
Tighten the evaporator hose nut (1) to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
3. Connect the evaporator hose (2) assembly to evaporator core.
4. Install the evaporator hose assembly nut (1)
Tighten
Tighten the evaporator hose assembly nut to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).
5. Connect the evaporator hose assembly to the accumulator.
6. Install the accumulator nut.
Tighten
Tighten the accumulator nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
7. Secure the evaporator hose assembly (1) in the snap clamp (2) on the accumulator.
8. Connect the evaporator hose assembly (2) to the right lower frame rail hold down (1).
9. Connect the low temperature sensor electrical connector.
10. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
11. Leak test the fittings of the repaired or reinstalled component using J 39400.
12. Install the upper filler panel.
