Disc Brake Hardware Replacement - 4A Front (J55)





1. Remove the front brake caliper from the mounting bracket and support the brake caliper (2) with heavy mechanic's wire (1), or equivalent; do NOT disconnect the hydraulic brake flexible hose from the caliper.





2. Remove the brake pads from the brake caliper bracket.
3. Remove the brake pad retainers from the brake caliper bracket.





4. Remove the front brake caliper bracket.
5. Mount the brake caliper bracket in a vise.
6. Using a flat bladed tool or punch carefully tap the pin bolt boots (1) from the brake caliper bracket(3).
7. Use a screwdriver or a small hook and carefully pull the bushings inward and remove the bushings from the brake caliper.
8. Remove the bushings (2) from the brake caliper bracket mounting bores.





Important:
^ Clean all parts in clean, denatured alcohol.
^ Dry with non-lubricated compressed air.
^ Inspect the brake caliper bracket for cracks. If cracked, replace the brake caliper bracket.

9. Apply a thin coat of high temperature silicone lube to the new bushings (2).
10. Install new bushings (2) into bracket mounting bores.
11. Apply a thin coat of high temperature silicone lube to the new caliper pin bolt boots (3).
12. Install the front brake caliper bracket.
13. Install the brake pad retainer to the caliper bracket.
14. Install the brake pads to the caliper bracket.
15. Install the front brake caliper.
