Manual Shaft and Seal Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Disconnect the shift linkage by removing the nut at the manual shaft level on the top of the transmission.
2. Remove the detent lever and roller assembly.
3. Remove the following parts:
^ The manual shaft (16) out through the top of the bell housing
^ The manual shaft seal (20)

Installation Procedure





1. Install the manual shaft seal (20).
2. Install the manual shaft (16) through the top of the bell housing.
3. Install the detent lever and roller assembly.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the manual shaft nut by hand.
^ Tighten the manual shaft lever nut to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
