Seat Back Frame Replacement - Front

Removal Procedure

Important: The seat back frame is serviced as an assembly.



1. The head restraint retainer guides (3) are serviced separately.
Remove the bucket seat. Refer to Seat Replacement - Bucket (Seat Replacement - Bucket) .
2. Remove the seat back cover. Refer to Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement (Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement) .




3. Disengage the seat cushion cover by unhooking the J-channel from the seat frame in order to access the electrical harness.
4. Cut the three tie straps securing the electrical harness (4) to the seat back frame.
5. Disconnect the electrical connectors, if equipped with heated (KA1) or power lumbar seats (AL2).
6. Remove the recliner hinge bolts (1).
7. Pull upward in order to remove the seat back frame (2) from the seat back recliner hinge.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the seat back frame to the seat back recliner hinge.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the recliner hinge bolts (1).

Tighten the hinge bolts to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).





3. Connect the electrical connectors, if equipped with heated (KA1) or power lumbar seats (AL2).
4. Install three new tie straps in order to secure the electrical harness (4) to the seat back frame (2).
5. Secure the seat cushion cover by hooking the J-channel to the seat frame.
6. Install the head restraint retainer guides to the new seat back frame.
7. Install the seat back cover and pad. Refer to Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement (Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement) .
8. With the aid of an assistant, install the seat. Refer to Seat Replacement - Bucket (Seat Replacement - Bucket) .
9. Reposition the seat.
