Service Bay Test
DESCRIPTIONThe evaporative emission (EVAP) Service Bay Test raises the engine coolant temperature (ECT) upper limit so that the EVAP diagnostic tests can run while in a service environment. The EVAP Service Bay Test can be used to verify an existing condition or verify that the EVAP system is OK. The scan tool will display a specific diagnostic trouble code (DTC) code failure or system passed.
CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE TEST
IMPORTANT: The following conditions must be met in order to enable the Service Bay Test.
1. The ignition is ON.
2. The ignition voltage is between 9-18 volts.
3. The engine coolant temperature (ECT) is less than 50°C (122°F)
4. The fuel level is between 15-85 percent of capacity.
5. The vehicle speed is less than 4.8 km/h (3 mph).
6. Stored DTCs have been cleared.
TEST PROCEDURE
1. Install a scan tool.
2. With a scan tool, select the Service Bay Test in the special functions menu.
3. Follow the instructions on the scan tool.
4. Continue with the published service manual DTC procedure.
