Steering Wheel Replacement

- J 1859-03 Countergear and Steering Wheel Puller

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Service Precautions.

1. Disable the SIR system.
2. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module.
3. Remove the steering wheel retaining nut.





4. Install J 1859-03 to the steering wheel.
5. Using J 1859-03 remove the steering wheel from the upper steering shaft.
6. Remove J 1859-03 from the steering wheel.

Installation Procedure
1. Feed the coil assembly lead through the slot in the steering wheel.





2. Install the steering wheel (1) to the upper steering column shaft.

Notice: Refer to fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the steering wheel retaining nut.
Tighten the steering wheel retaining nut to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module.
5. Enable the SIR system.
