Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement - Front
Removal Procedure
Important: The seat cushion cover is bonded to the seat cushion pad. A special hot glue is required to assembly the cover back onto the pad.
Use a 138°C (360°F) hot glue gun and Special Bostik Glue sticks in order to secure the cover to the pad.
1. With the aid from an assistant, remove the seat assembly. Refer to Seat Replacement - Bucket (Seat Replacement - Bucket) .
2. Remove the seat back frame. Refer to Seat Back Frame Replacement - Front (Seat Back Frame Replacement - Front) .
3. Disconnect the electrical connectors (4) if equipped with the heated seats (KA1) or lumbar (AL2).
4. Disconnect the three hog rings at the rear of the seat cushion.
5. Remove the front and rear outer finish panel fasteners (1).
6. Partially remove the outer finish panel.
7. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
8. Remove the outer finish panel.
9. Disengage the J-channel at the bottom of the seat cushion perimeter.
10. Remove the seat cushion cover (2) and pad (3) from the seat cushion frame.
11. In order to expose the bonded area, roll the trim cover away from the foam. Begin at the rear edge of the trim cover.
12. Fold the glue strip back with the trim cover. Hold the trim cover with one hand.
13. Press down with the other hand on the foam at the edge of the bonded area separating the foam from the cover.
14. Gently pull back on the trim cover as the foam and the trim cover separates.
15. Remove the cushion cover from the pad.
Installation Procedure
1. Partially install the trim cover to the front of the cushion foam.
Important: Do not exceed (1/4 in) diameter of hot glue to the seat cushion foam.
2. Use a 138°C (360°F) hot glue gun. Apply a 6 mm (1/4 in) bead of Special Bostik Glue in the first top horizontal channel.
3. Carefully place the trim cover over the foam so that the trim cover seam is positioned into the glue trench, within thirty seconds of the glue application.
4. Use a straight edge of the same length as the glued seam. Apply downward pressure (1-4 psi). Hold the trim cover for one minute.
5. Use two straight edges (1) of the same length as the seams in order to secure the cover to the foam pad. Apply downward pressure (1-4 psi). Hold the trim cover for one minute.
6. Lift the rear edge of the trim cover. Apply a 6 mm (1/4 in) bead of glue in the final channel.
7. Apply downward pressure (1-4 psi). Hold the trim cover (2) for one minute until a firm bond is made.
8. Place the cover and pad over the seat back frame recliner hinges (3).
9. Position the cover and pad to the seat cushion frame.
10. Ensure the seat belt buckle is positioned through the guide loop on the seat cushion cover.
11. Guide the electrical connectors (4) through the seat cushion, if equipped with heated or lumbar seats.
12. Connect the J-channel at the base of the seat cushion.
13. Connect the three hog rings at the rear of the seat cushion in order to secure the bottom of the cover.
14. Partially install the outer finish panel (1).
15. Connect the electrical connectors for the seat switches.
16. Install the outer finish panel over the retainer clip (2).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
17. Install the outer finish panel fasteners.
Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
18. Install the seat back frame (2). Refer to Seat Back Frame Replacement - Front (Seat Back Frame Replacement - Front) .
19. With the aid from an assistant, install the seat assembly. Refer to Seat Replacement - Bucket (Seat Replacement - Bucket) .
