Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement - Front

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Service Precautions.




1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the seat back trim panel.
3. Remove the 2 seat back cushion cover screws.
4. Use the J 38778 in order to remove the retainer from the center of the seat back cushion cover.
5. Remove the seat back cover.
6. Remove the seat belt retractors from the seat.




7. Remove the head restraint.
8. Remove the side impact air bag.
9. Disconnect the air lines for the seat back air bladder if equipped.




10. Disconnect the heated seat electrical connectors to the seat back.




11. Remove all of the seat back cover J channels retaining the seat back cover and pad to the seat back frame.
12. Remove the seat cover and cushion from the seat back frame.




13. Separate the hook and loop patch (1) retaining the seat back cover to the seat back pad.




14. Remove the seat back cover from the seat back pad.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the seat back cover to the seat back foam.




2. Align the seat cover to the seat pad and secure the hook and loop patch (1) that retains the seat back cover to the foam pad.
3. Position the seat back cover and pad to the seat back frame.
4. Route the heated seat electrical connectors through the seat cushion frame.




5. Reinstall the J channels to seat back frame.




6. Connect the heated seat electrical connectors.
7. Connect air lines for the seat back air bladder, if equipped.
8. Install the front side impact air bag.
9. Install the shoulder belt retractors.




10. Install the head restraint.




11. Install the seat back cushion cover.
12. Ensure the center retainer is secured to the seat back frame.
13. Install the 2 screws.
14. Install the seat back trim panel.
15. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
