Heater Pipe Replacement - Outlet
TOOLS REQUIREDJ 37097-A Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
2. Remove the air filter housing assembly.
3. Remove the heater hose from the heater outlet pipe (5).
4. Remove the hold down fastener (3) from the heater outlet pipe.
5. Using the J 37097-A, remove the hose clamps from the thermostat side of the heater outlet pipe (5) hose, the water cooled generator hose (6), if equipped, and the surge tank hose (4).
6. Remove the water cooled generator hose (6) clamp, if equipped.
7. Remove the surge tank hose (4) from the heater outlet pipe (5).
8. Remove the heater outlet pipe (5) from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the adapter hose to the thermostat housing end of the heater outlet pipe (4).
2. Install the heater outlet pipe (5) to the thermostat housing and place the hold down bracket over the stud.
3. Install the heater outlet pipe fastener (3) to the stud and hand tighten the fastener.
4. Install the surge tank hose (4) to the outlet coolant pipe (5).
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the water cooled generator hose (6), if equipped.
Tighten
Torque the outlet coolant hose fastener (3) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
6. Using the J 37097-A, install the hose clamps to the thermostat housing end of the heater outlet pipe (5), the surge tank hose (4) and the water cooled generator hose (6), if equipped.
7. Install the outlet heater hose to the heater outlet pipe (5).
8. Install the air filter housing assembly.
9. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
