Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disable the SIR system.
2. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module (SIR).
3. Remove the steering wheel retaining nut.
4. Disconnect the steering wheel electrical connector.
5. Install J1859-A and J42578 to the steering wheel.
6. Using J1859-A and J42578 separate the steering wheel from steering shaft.
7. Remove the steering wheel.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the steering wheel.
2. Align the steering wheel with the mark on the steering shaft.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install steering wheel retaining nut.
Tighten the steering wheel nut to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
4. Connect the steering wheel electrical connector.
5. Install the SIR module.
6. Enable the SIR system.
