Parts Restriction Program for Magnetic Ride Control Suspension System Components

Models:
2002 Cadillac Seville STS with RPO F55 Built After VIN Breakpoint 2U217411

Attention: Parts Department, Service Department, Warranty Department

Important:
"IPC" dealers are not authorized to utilize this Service Bulletin.

Beginning January 15, 2002, the 2002 Cadillac Seville STS will be equipped with a new suspension system. The new system is called Magnetic Ride Control. The RPO code is F55 and will replace RPO code F45, the Continuously Variable Road Sensing Suspension System (CVRSS/CVRTD).

The new system incorporates Delphi(R)'s MagneRide technology and may be referred to as:

^ MRRTD - MagneRide Real Time Dampening

^ MRCVRTD - Magneto Rheological Continuously Variable Real Time Dampening

^ MRCVRSS - Magneto Rheological Continuously Variable Road Sensing Suspension

Magnetic Ride Control Parts





In order to provide feedback and increased customer satisfaction, a parts restriction program will be in effect from February 2002 through February 2003 on the following components:

Important:
The Electronic Suspension Control (ESC) Module and the Front Suspension Strut Assembly are also included in this Parts Restriction but are not available for service at this time. This bulletin will be revised when the part numbers become available.

Parts Ordering Information

Important:
If any of the restricted parts listed above are ordered directly from GMSPO, the order will be rejected with a message to contact TAC.

U.S. Dealers

1. To place an order, GM Dealers within the United States should contact the General Motors Technical Assistance Center (TAC) at 1-877-GMTACS (1-877-446-8227).

2. Dealers must be ready to provide the following information when calling TAC:

^ Dealer Code

^ Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

^ Mileage

^ Repair Order Number

^ Results of Diagnosis

3. TAC will make the arrangements to ship the parts to your dealership.

Canada Dealers

1. A TAC case reference number is required PRIOR to placing an order.

2. GM Dealers within Canada should contact the General Motors Technical Assistance Center (TAC) at 1-800-263-7740 (English) or 1-800-263-7960 (French).

3. Dealers must be ready to provide the following information when calling TAC:

^ Dealer Code

^ Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

^ Mileage

^ Repair Order Number

^ Results of Diagnosis

4. To place an order, GM Dealers within Canada should contact the General Motors Service Parts Assistance Centre (SPAC) through GM TRACS at 1-866-275-5832 and provide the TAC case reference number. SPAC will make the arrangements to ship the parts to your dealership.

Parts Return Information

The parts may be requested for return by the Warranty Parts Center (WPC) in accordance with Corporate Bulletin Number 99-00-89-019B, dated January 2002 (Canadian Dealers should refer to Home Office Letter (HOL) 1999-201, dated January 5, 1999 for all WPC returns).

DO NOT RETURN PARTS WITHOUT WPC REQUESTED PAPERWORK.

Dealers are encouraged to process their warranty claims as quickly as possible in order to expedite the part return request from the WPC. Dealers will receive a WPC request via DCS when the claim is paid. You must follow these guidelines when returning a part:

^ Package the part in the replacement GMSPO part container, along with a copy of the WPC request and repair order.

^ Return the part immediately upon receipt of the WPC return request, using the WPC pre-printed UPS/ARS labels previously provided.

^ Do not include other unrelated parts with this shipment to the WPC.
