Hood: Service and Repair



Hood Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Open the hood.
2. Using a grease pencil, mark the location of the hinge on the hood assembly.

Caution: When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.


Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.

3. Disconnect the windshield washer hose connection. Refer toWasher Nozzle Replacement (LHD) Washer Nozzle Replacement (Export-XA7 LHD) Washer Nozzle Replacement (Export RHD) In Wipers/Washer Systems.




4. Remove the hood assist rods (2). Refer toAssist Rod Replacement - Hood (Assist Rod Replacement - Hood) .




5. Remove the bolts (2) securing the hood to the hood hinge.
6. Remove the hood from the vehicle with an assistant.



Installation Procedure

1. Position the hood to the vehicle with an assistant.




2. Position the hinge to the grease pencil marks on the hood.

Notice: Refer toFastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the bolts (2) in order to secure the hood to the hood hinge with an assistant.

Tighten the bolts (2) to 9 Nm (80 lb in).





4. Install the hood assist rods (1). Refer toAssist Rod Replacement - Hood (Assist Rod Replacement - Hood) .
5. Connect the windshield washer hose connection. Refer toWasher Nozzle Replacement (LHD) Washer Nozzle Replacement (Export-XA7 LHD) Washer Nozzle Replacement (Export RHD) In Wipers/Washer Systems.
6. Slowly close the hood checking for adjustment, adjust if necessary. Refer toHood Adjustment (Adjustments) .
7. Remove the tape from the hood and the fenders.
8. Close the hood.
