Scan Tool Data Definitions
SCAN TOOL DATA DEFINITIONSABS Input: The scan tool displays On or Off. The state of the ABS indicator as commanded by the IPC. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination
Battery Volts: The scan tool displays 0-19 volts. The voltage measured at the battery positive voltage circuit of the IPC.
Brake Fluid Switch: scan tool displays the voltage at the brake fluid switch signal circuit as monitored by the IPC.
ECT: The scan tool displays -40-151°C (-40-304°F). The ECM monitors the voltage at the signal circuit of the engine coolant temperature sensor. The voltage is inversely proportional to the engine coolant temperature.
Engine Oil Life: The scan tool displays 0-100%. The ECM calculates the amount of oil life remaining.
Engine Oil Level Switch: The scan tool displays OK or Low. The ECM monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil level switch. A closed switch is displayed as Low.
Engine Oil Pressure Switch: The scan tool displays OK or Low. The ECM monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil pressure switch. A closed switch is displayed as Low.
Engine Speed: The scan tool displays 0-8000 RPM. Engine speed is computed by the ECM from the ignition reference input. It should remain close to desired idle under various engine loads with the engine idling.
Engine Speed: The scan tool displays 0-8000 RPM. Engine speed is computed by the IPC via a discrete input from the ECM.
Fuel Level: The scan tool displays 0 - 70 L (0 -18.5 gal). The ECM calculates the amount of fuel remaining in the tanks based on the signal circuits of the fuel level sensors.
Fuel Level Sensor Left: The scan tool displays 0 - 5 volts. The ECM monitors the signal circuit of the primary fuel level sensor.
Fuel Level Sensor Right: The scan tool displays 0 - 5 volts. The ECM monitors the signal circuit of the secondary fuel level sensor.
Ignition 1: scan tool displays On/Off. The scan tool displays On if the IPC senses voltage in the ignition voltage circuit.
Ignition Counter: scan tool displays 0-50. The IPC counts the number of times the ignition is cycled.
Key in Ignition: The scan tool displays Yes or No. The DIM monitors the key in ignition switch circuit. A closed switch with the key in the ignition is displayed as Yes.
Left Turn Signal: The scan tool displays On or Off. The IPC monitors the left turn signal supply voltage circuit. An active turn signal toggles the display between On and Off.
Park Brake Switch: The scan tool displays On or Off. The IPC monitors the park brake switch circuit. A closed switch with the parking brake applied is displayed as On.
Right Turn Signal: The scan tool displays On or Off. The IPC monitors the right turn signal lamps supply voltage circuit. An active turn signal toggles the display between On and Off.
Vehicle Speed: The scan tool displays 0-255 km/h (0-155 mph). The IPC calculates the vehicle speed signal via a discrete input from the ECM.
