Water Crossover Replacement

Removal Procedure
1. Partially drain the cooling system.
2. Remove the intake manifold.







3. Disconnect the electrical connector (3) from the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
4. Disconnect the throttle body heater hose (1) from the fitting.







5. Remove the following from the cylinder heads with the heater hose (3) still attached:
- The water crossover fittings (2)
- The upper and lower seals (1)
- The water crossover (4)

6. Disconnect the heater hose (3) from the water crossover (4) if replacement is necessary.


#1 Water Crossover:






7. Remove the following components from the water crossover (1) if replacement is necessary:
- The water crossover pipe plug (2)
- The ECT sensor (4) and gasket (5)
- The throttle body inlet heater hose fitting (3)




Installation Procedure







Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in Service Precautions.
Component Fastener Tightening Notice


1. Install the following components to the water crossover (1) if previously removed:
- The ECT sensor (4) and gasket (5)
- Tighten the ECT sensor to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).
- The throttle body inlet heater hose fitting (3)
- Tighten the throttle body inlet heater hose fitting to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
- The water crossover pipe plug (2)
- Tighten the water crossover pipe plug to 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.).
- The heater hose







2. Install the following to the cylinder heads:
- The upper and lower seals (1)
- The water crossover (4)
- The water crossover fittings (2)
- Tighten the water crossover fittings to 20 Nm (15 ft lbs.).







3. Connect the electrical connector (3) to the ECT sensor.
4. Connect the throttle body heater hose (1) to the fitting.
5. Install the intake manifold.
6. Fill the cooling system.
