Steering Column Trim Covers

Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disable the SIR system.
2. Remove the steering wheel.





3. Remove the tilt steering column lever (1) from steering column (2).
4. If necessary, remove the trim plug from the bottom of the lower trim cover.





5. Remove the retaining screws (1) that secure the lower trim cover (2) to the steering column.





6. Remove the lower trim cover by fitting the cover down and sliding the cover back in order to disengage the locking tabs.





7. Remove the retaining screws (1) from the upper steering column trim cover (2)
8. Remove the upper steering column trim cover (2).

Installation Procedure





1. Install the upper steering column trim cover (2).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precaution.

2. Install the retaining screws (1) to the upper steering column trim cover (2).
^ Tighten the screw to 1.5 Nm (13 inch lbs.).





3. Install the lower steering column trim cover by matching the tabs slots on the trim cover with the locking tabs on the upper trim cover and tilting the lower trim cover up.





4. Install the retaining screws (1) to the lower steering column trim cover (2).
^ Tighten the screws to 3.5 Nm (31 inch lbs.).
5. If necessary, install the trim plug to the bottom of the lower trim cover.





6. Install the tilt steering column lever (1) to the steering column (2).
7. Install the steering wheel.
8. Enable the SIR system.
