On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Improvements (Clear DTC) - Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Illuminated, DTC P0602 Set

Models:
2003 Cadillac CTS
with 3.2L Engine (VIN N - RPO LA3)
Built Prior to VIN Breakpoint 103471

Condition

Some customers may comment that the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is illuminated. A technician may find that DTC P0602 has been set.

Cause

This condition may be caused because a software confirmation message may not have been sent to the vehicle during the vehicle assembly verification test.

Correction

Tech 2 software, version 22.002, will allow you to correct this condition on any vehicle by clearing codes. Use the following steps:

Tech 2 software, version 22.002, will be available from Techline starting February 25, 2002, on the TIS 2000 version TIS 2.5/2002 data update or later.

1. Connect the Tech 2.

2. Select Model Year 2003.

3. Select Powertrain.

4. Select 3.2L.

5. Select DTC.

6. At the DTC screen, select Clear Trouble Codes. Follow the procedure above on all affected vehicles, including vehicles in new dealer inventory and any vehicles that return for service during the warranty period.
