Differential Mount: Service and Repair
Differential Mount Replacement^ Tools Required
- 9519-E Lower Ball Joint Remover and Installer.
- J21474-01 Control Arm Bushing Set
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the rear differential.
3. Remove the rear frame.
4. Install J9519-E and J21474-01 to the rear differential bushing.
5. Using J9519-E and J21474-01 remove the rear differential bushing.
Important: The differential mount bushings need to be pressed in and out evenly from the frame. Side to side movement is not tolerable. Carefully press the differential mount bushing out of the frame.
6. Remove the differential mount bushing and discard
Installation Procedure
Important: The differential mount bushings need to be installed without lubricant.
1. Ensure the frame pilot hole and the differential mount bushing is free from lubricant or any foreign contaminants.
2. Install a new differential mount bushing to the rear of the frame.
3. Install J9519-E and J21474-01 to the rear differential bushing.
4. Using J9519-E and J21474-01 press the bushing into the frame.
5. Remove J9519-E and J21474-01 from the bushing.
6. Repeat the above steps for the additional bushing.
7. Install the rear frame.
8. Install the rear differential assembly.
9. Lower the vehicle.
