9. Rear Housing Assemble

Rear Housing Assemble





1. Use a press tube that fits the outside race of the bearing and a press to install the bearing (1) into the rear housing (2). It may be necessary to heat the housing to 80°C (176°F) to ease installation.





2. Apply thread locker GM P/N 12345382, (Canadian P/N 10953489), to the clean threads of the rear bearing plate bolts.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the bolts (1) through the bearing plate (2).
^ Tighten Torque the rear bearing plate bolts to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.).





4. Assemble the roller (6), spring guide (5), bushing (4), spring (3) and the gear selector rod bushing (2) into the housing.
5. Apply thread locker GM P/N 12345382, (Canadian P/N 10953489), to the threads of retaining bolt (1).
^ Tighten Torque the retaining bolt to 20 Nm (115 ft. lbs.),





6. Apply thread locker GM P/N 12345382, (Canadian P/N 10953489), to the threads of the retaining bolt (1).

Important: The spring must seat to the locking lever on the rear bearing plate.

7. Install the spring (2) over the retaining bolt (1) and into the rear housing,





8. Install the speed sensor ring (2) into the rear housing.
9. Using J 45510 install the rear oil seal until fully seated.

Important: Shims are not required behind this bearing cup.





10. Install the counter gear bearing cup in the rear housing.





11. Grease the counter shaft bearing and install into the race.





12. Grease the 2 interlock balls and install into the holes in the rear housing.
