Instrument Panel (IP) - Retainer Replacement



Instrument Panel (I/P) Retainer Replacement

Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Disable the SIR. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in SIR.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
3. Remove the I/P center storage compartment or the floor console. Refer to Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) (Base and DHS) (Instrument Panel Compartment - Replacement (Base and DHS))Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) (DTS) (Instrument Panel Compartment - Replacement (DTS)) or Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS, w/o UV8) (Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS Without RPO UV8))Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS with UV8) (Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS With RPO UV8)) .
4. Remove the left I/P outer trim cover. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Left (Instrument Panel (IP) - Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Left) .
5. Remove the right I/P outer trim cover. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Right (Instrument Panel (IP) - Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Right) .
6. Remove the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement .
7. Remove the drivers knee bolster bracket. Refer to Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement - Left (Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement - Left) .
8. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement (U1R, UM5, UM9) Radio Replacement (U3Q, U3R, U3S) in Entertainment.
9. Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement .
10. Remove the I/P cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement.
11. Remove the I/P storage compartment. Refer to Storage Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) (Instrument Panel Storage Compartment - Replacement) .
12. Remove the right I/P accessory trim plate. Refer Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory Right (Instrument Panel (IP) - Accessory Trim Plate Replacement - Right Side) .




13. Remove the I/P screws (1) from each end of the I/P retainer.




14. Remove the remaining bolts from the I/P retainer (1).
15. Partially remove the I/P retainer (1) from the I/P carrier (2).
Disconnect the inside air temperature sensor electrical connector.
16. Guide the wiring through the I/P retainer openings as necessary.
17. Remove the I/P retainer (1) from the vehicle.
18. Remove the Inside air temperature sensor from the I/P retainer (1). Refer to Inside Air Temperature Sensor Assembly Replacement in HVAC-Automatic.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the Inside air temperature sensor to the I/P retainer (1). Refer to Inside Air Temperature Sensor Assembly Replacement in HVAC-Automatic.
2. Partially install the I/P retainer (1) to the I/P carrier (2) and guide the wiring through the I/P retainer openings.
3. Connect the inside air temperature sensor electrical connector.
4. Install the I/P retainer bolts.




5. Install the screws (1) to the I/P retainer.
6. Install the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
7. Install the drivers knee bolster bracket. Refer to Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement - Left (Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement - Left) .
8. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement (U1R, UM5, UM9) Radio Replacement (U3Q, U3R, U3S) in Entertainment.
9. Install the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement in HVAC-Automatic.
10. Install the I/P cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement.
11. Install the I/P storage compartment. Refer to Storage Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) (Instrument Panel Storage Compartment - Replacement) .
12. Install the right I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory Right (Instrument Panel (IP) - Accessory Trim Plate Replacement - Right Side) .
13. Install the left I/P outer trim cover. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Left (Instrument Panel (IP) - Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Left) .
14. Install the right I/P outer trim cover. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Right (Instrument Panel (IP) - Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Right) .
15. Install the I/P center storage compartment or the floor console. Refer to Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) (Base and DHS) (Instrument Panel Compartment - Replacement (Base and DHS))Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) (DTS) (Instrument Panel Compartment - Replacement (DTS)) or Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS, w/o UV8) (Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS Without RPO UV8))Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS with UV8) (Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS With RPO UV8)) .
16. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
17. Enable the SIR. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in SIR.
