Canister Purge Control Valve: Service and Repair

EVAPORATIVE EMISSION (EVAP) CANISTER PURGE VALVE REPLACEMENT







REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve electrical connector (5).
2. Disconnect the EVAP purge pipe (4) from the EVAP canister purge valve (3).
3. Partially open the throttle.







4. Remove the EVAP canister purge valve retaining bolt (2).
5. Remove the EVAP canister purge valve (3) from the intake manifold (1).



INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Partially open the throttle.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to install a new O-ring on the EVAP purge valve.







2. Position the EVAP canister purge valve (3) on the intake manifold (1).
3. Install the EVAP canister purge valve retaining bolt (2).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Vehicle Damage Warnings

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

4. Allow the throttle to close.







5. Connect the EVAP purge pipe (4) to the EVAP canister purge valve (3).
6. Connect the EVAP canister purge valve electrical connector (5).
