Brake Pad Electronic Wear Sensor Replacement - RearRemoval Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Mark the relationship of the wheel to the hub flange.
3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
4. Remove the electronic brake pad wear sensor retainer clip (1) from the brake caliper.
5. Carefully pull up on the electronic brake pad wear sensor wire (1) and with a small flat head screw driver and remove the sensor from the inner brake pad.
6. Remove the electronic brake pad wear sensor wire (1) from its retainers (2) on the brake caliper.
7. Disconnect the electronic brake pad wear sensor electrical connector from the harness.
8. Remove the electronic brake pad wear sensor wire (1).
Installation Procedure
Important: The electronic brake pad wear sensors must be replaced every time the brake pads are replaced. New brake pad wear sensors are included with GM replacement brake pad kits. Be sure that the wear sensor wiring is properly routed and clipped in its original location.
1. Snap the electronic brake pad wear sensor (1) into the inboard brake pad.
2. Route the electronic brake pad wear sensor (1) along the brake caliper. Be sure the wire is secured in its proper mounting location when the brake caliper is installed.
3. Be sure that the electronic brake pad wear sensor (1) is properly routed and clipped in its original location.
4. Connect the electrical connector to the electronic brake pad wear sensor wire harness (1).
5. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
6. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
