TORQUE & SEQUENCE
Left Side:
Left Cylinder Head
Right Cylinder Head
First Pass
Tighten the left cylinder head M11 cylinder head bolts to 40 Nm (30 lb ft) in the sequence shown.
Second Pass
Using the J 36660-A, tighten the left cylinder head M11 cylinder head bolts an additional 70 degrees in the sequence shown.
Third Pass
Repeat the sequence turning each bolt another 60 degrees.
Final Pass
Repeat the sequence again turning each bolt a final 60 degrees (total 190 degrees).
Tighten the M6 bolts at the front of the cylinder head.
Tighten the M6 cylinder head bolts to 12 Nm (106 lb in).
Important: DO NOT reuse the old M11 cylinder head bolts.
Intake Manifold
10 Nm (89 lb in)
Left Camshaft Bearing Cap
Right Camshaft Bearing Cap
Alternately hand tighten the camshaft bearing cap bolts a few turns at a time until all caps are fully seated.
Tighten the camshaft bearing cap bolts to 5 Nm (44 lb in).
Tighten the camshaft bearing cap bolts an additional 30 degrees using the J 36660-A.
Main Bearing Cap
First Pass
Tighten the lower crankcase bearing bolts (1 through 20) to 20 Nm (15 lb ft) in the proper sequence.
Final Pass
Tighten the lower crankcase bolts (1 through 20) an additional 65 degrees in the proper sequence using the J 36660-A.
Connecting Rod Bolt
Important: DO NOT reuse the old connecting rod bolts.
First Pass 30 Nm (22 lb ft)
Second Pass Back off to zero
Third Pass 25 Nm (18 lb ft)
Final Pass +110 degrees
Crankshaft Pulley
First Pass 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
Final Pass 120 degrees
Flex Plate
Install the 8 NEW mounting bolts.
First Pass
Tighten the flywheel mounting bolts to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
Final Pass
Tighten the flywheel mounting bolts an additional 50 degrees using the J 36660.
Oil Pump
First Pass 10 Nm (89 lb in)
Final Pass +35 degrees
Exhaust Manifold
25 Nm ( 18 lb ft )
Water Pump
100 Nm (74 lb ft)
