54. Oil Pump Clean and Inspect
Oil Pump Cleaning and Inspection1. Clean parts in solvent.
Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in Service Precautions.
2. Dry the parts with compressed air.
3. Use a feeler gage to measure the clearance between the driven rotor and the pump body. If clearance is greater than maximum, replace the oil pump.
4. Use a feeler gage to measure the clearance between both rotor tips. If clearance is greater than maximum, replace the oil pump.
5. Use a feeler gage and a straight edge to measure the oil pump inner and outer gear to housing clearance. If clearance is greater than maximum, replace the oil pump.
6. Inspect the oil pressure regulating valve, oil pressure relief valve and springs for wear or damage.
7. Inspect oil pump pressure regulating valve and oil pressure relief valve for free movement in their bores.
