Engine VIN Derivative And Identification Locations:
The 2.6L (LY9) primary location (1) is on the cam drive cover on the front of the engine.
The 2.6L (LY9) VIN Derivatives location (1) and 3.2L (LA3) engine secondary location (2) are stamped on a metal plate located on the left side of the engine.
A six digit stamping with emission and compression coding (3).

Engine VIN Derivative And Identification Locations:
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Derivative is located on the block and is a nine digit number stamped or laser etched onto the engine at the vehicle assembly plant. If reading the identification number the following information can be obtained:
- The first digit identifies the vehicle division.
- The second digit is the model year.
- The third digit identifies the assembly plant.
- The fourth through ninth digits are the last six digits of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
ENGINE VERIFICATION LABEL
The engine verification label is placed in two locations on the engine.
One label is located on the left side of the engine front cover below the exhaust camshaft position sensor.
Another label is located on the rear of the right cylinder head.
LCT ENGINE VIN DERIVATIVE AND IDENTIFICATION LOCATIONS
LCT Engine VIN Derivative And Identification Locations:
The vehicle identification number (VIN) is located on the left side rear of the engine block (1 or 2) and is typically a nine digit number stamped or laser-etched onto the engine at the vehicle assembly plant.
- The first digit identifies the division.
- The second digit identifies the model year.
- The third digit identifies the assembly plant.
- The fourth through ninth digits are the last six digits of the VIN.
