Timing Chain Idler Gear: Service and Repair
TIMING CHAIN IDLER SPROCKET REPLACEMENT - LEFT
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the engine front cover. Timing Cover
2. Remove the right bank secondary camshaft drive chain tensioner.
3. Remove the right bank secondary camshaft drive chain shoe.
4. Remove the right bank secondary camshaft drive chain guide.
5. Remove the right bank secondary camshaft drive chain.
6. Remove the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner.
7. Remove the primary upper camshaft drive chain guide.
8. Remove the primary camshaft drive chain.
9. Remove the right bank camshaft intermediate drive chain idler.
10. If you are servicing the left bank camshaft intermediate drive chain idler, perform the following steps:
A. Remove the left bank secondary camshaft drive chain tensioner.
B. Remove the left bank secondary camshaft drive chain shoe.
C. Remove the left bank secondary camshaft drive chain guide.
D. Remove the left bank secondary camshaft drive chain.
E. Remove the left bank camshaft intermediate drive chain idler.
Installation Procedure
1. If you are servicing the left bank idler sprocket, perform the following steps:
A. Install the left bank camshaft intermediate drive chain idler.
B. Install the left bank secondary camshaft drive chain.
C. Install the left bank secondary camshaft drive chain guide.
D. Install the left bank secondary camshaft drive chain shoe.
E. Install the left bank secondary camshaft drive chain tensioner.
2. Install the right bank camshaft intermediate drive chain idler.
3. Install the primary camshaft drive chain.
4. Install the primary upper camshaft drive chain guide.
5. Install the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner.
6. Install the right bank secondary camshaft drive chain.
7. Install the right bank secondary camshaft drive chain guide.
8. Install the right bank secondary camshaft drive chain shoe.
9. Install the right bank secondary camshaft drive chain tensioner.
10. Install the engine front cover.
