Direct and Reverse Clutch Disassemble

Tools Required
^ J33734 Intermediate Spring Compressor Adapter
^ J45139 Compressor Plate





1. Remove the reverse clutch backing plate retainer (420).
2. Remove the backing plate (419).
3. Remove the clutch plates (418, 417).
4. Remove the apply plate (416).
5. Remove the reverse clutch spacer (415).





6. Remove the direct clutch backing plate retainer ring (414).
7. Remove the backing plate (413).
8. Remove the clutch plates (412, 411).
9. Remove the apply plate (410).





10. Use J38734 and J45139 to compress the direct and reverse piston spring (407).
11. Remove the direct and reverse clutch spring retainer ring (409).
12. Remove J33734 and J45139.





13. Remove the spring retainer (408).
14. Remove the spring (407).





Important: It may be necessary to use air pressure to remove the piston.

15. Remove the direct clutch piston (406).





16. Remove the reverse clutch piston (404).
17. Remove the reverse clutch piston inner seal (402).
