Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) retainer. Refer toInstrument Panel Retainer Replacement (Instrument Panel (IP) - Retainer Replacement) .
2. Remove the HVAC ducts. Refer toInstrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Upper Duct Replacement - Left Side ,Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Upper Duct Replacement - Right Side , andWindshield Defroster Duct Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.




3. On vehicles with a manual shift transmission, loosen the nuts (2) on the pedal bracket.
4. Remove the parking brake pedal assembly. Refer toParking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement (LHD) Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement (RHD) in Park Brake.




5. On vehicles with an automatic transmission, loosen the 2 nuts (1) securing the brake pedal bracket to the carrier.

Important: Note the location and routing of the wiring harness and harness retainers.


6. Disconnect all electrical wire retainers from the carrier assembly.




7. Remove the nuts securing the carrier to the cowl.
8. Remove the carrier assembly.



Installation Procedure

1. Install the carrier assembly.





Notice: Refer toFastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the bolts securing the carrier to the cowl.

Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb in).

3. Install the nuts securing the carrier to the firewall under the A pillar.

Tighten the nuts to 9 Nm (80 lb in).

4. Connect all electrical wire retainers to the carrier assembly.




5. On vehicles with a manual shift transmission, loosen the nuts (2) on the pedal bracket.

Tighten the nuts to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

6. Install the parking brake pedal assembly. Refer toParking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement (LHD) Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement (RHD) in Park Brake.




7. Install the 2 nuts (1) securing the brake pedal bracket to the cowl.

Tighten the nuts to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

8. Install the HVAC ducts. Refer toInstrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Upper Duct Replacement - Left Side ,Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Upper Duct Replacement - Right Side , andWindshield Defroster Duct Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
9. Install the I/P retainer. Refer toInstrument Panel Retainer Replacement (Instrument Panel (IP) - Retainer Replacement) .
