Power Steering Pressure Control Valve: Service and Repair

Power Steering Gear Solenoid/Actuator Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the front tire and wheel.
3. Remove the front air deflector for access.
4. Clean any dirt or debris from the power steering gear solenoid wiring harness to brake controller connector.
5. Remove the power steering gear solenoid/actuator wiring harness from the 2 plastic wiring harness retainers.
6. Disconnect the power steering gear solenoid/actuator wiring harness.

7. Important: Do not get dirt on the lower portion or the solenoid below the hex or inside the solenoid port of the steering gear.

Clean any dirt or debris from the power steering gear solenoid/actuator.





8. Using a pair of adjustable pliers or equivalent, remove the power steering gear solenoid/actuator from the steering gear in a counter clockwise rotation.
9. Remove the power steering gear solenoid/actuator from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure
1. Insure the new power steering gear solenoid/actuator has 2 O-rings visible beneath the hex.

2. Important: Do not get dirt on the lower portion or the solenoid below the hex or inside the solenoid port of the steering gear.

Taking care not to contaminate the steering gear, install the power steering gear solenoid/actuator.






3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Using the open-end crowfoot that comes in the kit, install the power steering gear solenoid/actuator in the steering gear.
Tighten the solenoid to 18 Nm (14 ft. lbs.).





4. Connect the power steering gear solenoid/actuator wiring harness.
5. Install the power steering gear solenoid/actuator wiring harness to the 2 plastic wiring harness retainers.
6. Install the front air deflector .
7. Install the front tire and wheel.
8. Fill and bleed the power steering system.
9. Lower the vehicle
