Rear Door: Service and Repair



Door Replacement - Rear

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door (Standard) (Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door (Standard))Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door (WC2, WC8) (Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door (WC2, WC8)) .
2. Remove the door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement Service and Repair
3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Rear Door (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Door Frame (Service and Repair) .
5. Remove the window inner belt sealing strip. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Rear Door Window Belt Inner (Service and Repair) .
6. Remove the window channel. Refer to Window Channel Replacement - Rear Door Front (Window Channel Replacement - Rear Door Front) .
7. Remove the window. Refer to Window Replacement - Rear Door (Standard Door) (Window Replacement - Rear Door (Standard Door))Window Replacement - Rear Door (RPO WC2 and WC8) (Window Replacement - Rear Door (RPO WC2 and WC8))Window Replacement - Rear Door (RPO WC2 and WC8 w/ Stationary Window) (Window Replacement - Rear Door (RPO WC2 and WC8 w/ Stationary Window)) .
8. Remove the window regulator. Refer to Window Regulator Replacement - Rear Door (Standard Door) (Window Regulator Replacement - Rear Door (Standard Door))Window Regulator Replacement - Rear Door (RPO WC2 and WC8) (Window Regulator Replacement - Rear Door (RPO WC2 and WC8)) .
9. Remove the latch. Refer to Latch Replacement - Rear Door (Service and Repair) .
10. Remove the outside door handle. Refer to Door Handle Replacement - Rear Outside (Service and Repair) .
11. Remove the rear door stationary window/division channel. Refer to Window/Division Channel - Rear Door Stationary (Window/Division Channel - Rear Door Stationary) .
12. Remove the reveal molding. Refer to Reveal Molding Replacement - Rear Door Window (Reveal Molding Replacement - Rear Door Window) .
13. Remove the weatherstrip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door (Service and Repair) .
14. Remove the front auxiliary sealing strip. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Rear Door Front Auxiliary (Sealing Strip Replacement - Rear Door Front Auxiliary) .
15. Remove the bottom auxiliary sealing strip. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Rear Door Bottom Auxiliary (Rear Side Door Bottom Auxiliary Sealing Strip Replacement) .




16. Remove the center pillar garnish molding in order to access the door wire harness connectors, if needed. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar (Standard) (Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar (Standard))Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar (WC2, WC8) (Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar (WC2, WC8)) in Interior Trim.
17. Disconnect the door wire harness from the body wire harness, if needed.
18. Depress the tabs on the door wire harness connector in order to release the connector from the center pillar.
19. Disconnect the wiring harness retainers from the inner door panel.
20. Pull the rubber conduit and the wiring harness out through the opening at the front of the door.




21. Remove the door check link. Refer to Door Check Link Replacement - Rear (Service and Repair)
22. Support the door.
23. Remove the hinge to door nuts.
24. Remove the door, with an assistant.



Installation Procedure

1. Install the hinge studplates into the door.
2. Align the door to the hinges, with an assistant.
3. Support the door.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Install the door to hinge nuts.

Tighten the door to hinge nuts to 34 N.m (25 lb ft).

5. Install the door check link. Refer to Door Check Link Replacement - Rear (Service and Repair) .
6. Install all the retainers to the door shell that were removed during disassembly.
7. Route the door wire harness and conduit into the door.
8. Install the door wiring harness retainers to the inner door panel.




9. Connect the door wire harness to the body wire harness, if disconnected.
10. Install the center pillar garnish molding, if removed. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar (Standard) (Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar (Standard))Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar (WC2, WC8) (Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar (WC2, WC8)) in Interior Trim.
11. Install the bottom auxiliary sealing strip. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Rear Door Bottom Auxiliary (Rear Side Door Bottom Auxiliary Sealing Strip Replacement) .
12. Install the front auxiliary sealing strip. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Rear Door Front Auxiliary (Sealing Strip Replacement - Rear Door Front Auxiliary) .
13. Install the weatherstrip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door (Service and Repair) .
14. Install the reveal molding. Refer to Reveal Molding Replacement - Rear Door Window (Reveal Molding Replacement - Rear Door Window) .
15. Install the window run channel/stationary window. Refer to Window/Division Channel - Rear Door Stationary (Window/Division Channel - Rear Door Stationary) .
16. Install the outside door handle. Refer to Door Handle Replacement - Rear Outside (Service and Repair) .
17. Install the door latch. Refer to Latch Replacement - Rear Door (Service and Repair) .
18. Install the window regulator. Refer to Window Regulator Replacement - Rear Door (Standard Door) (Window Regulator Replacement - Rear Door (Standard Door))Window Regulator Replacement - Rear Door (RPO WC2 and WC8) (Window Regulator Replacement - Rear Door (RPO WC2 and WC8)) .
19. Install the window. Refer to Window Replacement - Rear Door (Standard Door) (Window Replacement - Rear Door (Standard Door))Window Replacement - Rear Door (RPO WC2 and WC8) (Window Replacement - Rear Door (RPO WC2 and WC8))Window Replacement - Rear Door (RPO WC2 and WC8 w/ Stationary Window) (Window Replacement - Rear Door (RPO WC2 and WC8 w/ Stationary Window)) .
20. Install the window channel. Refer to Window Channel Replacement - Rear Door Front (Window Channel Replacement - Rear Door Front) .
21. Install the window inner belt sealing strip. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Rear Door Window Belt Inner (Service and Repair) .
22. Install the garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Door Frame (Service and Repair) .
23. Install the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Rear Door (Service and Repair) .
24. Install the door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement Service and Repair
25. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door (Standard) (Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door (Standard))Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door (WC2, WC8) (Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door (WC2, WC8)) .
26. Verify proper door alignment. Refer to Door Adjustment (Adjustments) .
