TECHNICAL
Subject:
Brake Pulsation, Premature Brake Rotor Wear, Brake Drag (Install Brake Pedal Pushrod Spacer)
Models:
2001-2005 Cadillac DeVille (Professional Vehicles Only)
with RPO V4U (Limousine), B9Q (Hearse) or BO5 (Armored)
Attention:
This bulletin ONLY applies to professional vehicles.
Condition
Some customers may comment on brake vibration or pedal pulsation. This may be the result of brake drag that may cause the brake rotor to wear unevenly, and reduce brake pad lining life.
Cause
Vehicles were built without a brake pedal pushrod spacer. If the spacer is missing, the brake pedal pushrod may move a small amount out of its intended position on the pedal pin. The misalignment may result in a binding condition during release of the brake pedal.
Correction
Inspect for presence of the brake pedal pushrod spacer and install foam spacer, P/N 25512286, if missing using the procedure below.
1. Remove the left IP closeout/insulator panel.
2. Inspect for presence of the brake pedal pushrod spacer (1). If missing, remove the retainer clip (2) and install the foam spacer to the brake pedal assembly clevis pin.
3. Reinstall the retainer clip.
4. Reinstall the left IP closeout/insulator panel.
