Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper (Standard Models)

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.




1. Remove the left and right windshield pillar garnish moldings. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Standard) (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Standard))Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (WC2, WC8) (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (With RPO Code WC2, WC8)) in Interior Trim.
2. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) air outlet vents. Refer to Deflector Replacement - Instrument Panel Air in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
3. Remove the defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement (Without UV2) (Defroster Grille Replacement (Without RPO Code UV2))Defroster Grille Replacement (UV2) (Defroster Grille Replacement (With RPO Code UV2)) .
4. Remove the four fasteners (2) from the inside of the vent outlet holes to the upper pad (3).
5. Remove the three fasteners (1) from the inside of the defroster grille outlet holes to the upper pad (3).




6. Lift the upper I/P pad (1) upward from the rear edge of the I/P cluster in order to disengage the retainers from the I/P cluster trim plate.
7. Disconnect the electrical connectors, if necessary.
8. Lift the pad on an angle and slide rearward in order to disengage the retainers at the front of the I/P.
9. Remove the I/P upper trim pad (1) from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure





1. Align the I/P upper trim pad to the I/P and connect the electrical connections.
2. Slide the I/P upper trim pad (1) forward in order to engage the front of the I/P trim pad to the I/P carrier.
3. Align the rear edge of the I/P upper trim pad (1) with the I/P cluster bezel, and snap the retainers into the upper pad.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Install the four fasteners (2) into the I/P air outlet vent openings.

Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

5. Install the three fasteners (1) into the defroster grille opening on the I/P upper pad (3).

Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

6. Install the I/P air outlets. Refer to Deflector Replacement - Instrument Panel Air in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
7. Install the defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement (Without UV2) (Defroster Grille Replacement (Without RPO Code UV2))Defroster Grille Replacement (UV2) (Defroster Grille Replacement (With RPO Code UV2)) .
8. Install the left and right windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Standard) (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Standard))Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (WC2, WC8) (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (With RPO Code WC2, WC8)) in Interior Trim.
