Latch Replacement - Front Door
Removal Procedure
1. Place the window in the full up position.
2. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Front Door Service and Repair
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors (1).
5. Disconnect the retainer clip securing the inside door handle cable to the inner door panel.
6. Disconnect the lock cylinder rod (driver's door only).
7. Disconnect the outside door handle rod (1) from the door latch retainer clip (2).
8. Remove the lock knob from the rod by twisting counterclockwise the knob.
9. Remove the three fasteners (4) from the door latch.
10. Remove the door latch (3) from the door.
Installation Procedure
1. Connect the electrical connectors (1).
2. Install the door latch (3) into the door.
3. Connect the retainer clip to the door for the inside door handle cable.
4. Route the door lock knob into position.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
5. Install the three fasteners in order to secure the door latch to the door.
Tighten the fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
6. Connect the outside door handle rod to the latch in the following order:
1. Insert the rod (1) into the retainer clip (2) on the door latch assembly.
2. Close the clip (2).
7. Install the lock cylinder rod (driver's door only).
8. Install the lock knob by turning clock-wise onto the lock rod.
9. Inspect the door handle and lock cylinder for proper operation.
10. Install the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Front Door Service and Repair
11. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door (Service and Repair).
