Console Compartment Door - Hinge Replacement



Console Compartment Door Hinge Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the rear ashtray and lighter assembly from the rear of the center console. Refer to Cigar Lighter Housing Replacement - Floor Console.




2. Remove the 2 screws (2) from behind the rear ashtray and lighter assembly.




3. Open the console compartment door.
4. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to remove the rear air vent cover (3) from the center console.
5. Remove the cellular telephone docking station, if equipped with a Cellular phone, UV8. Refer to Cellular Telephone Docking Station Replacement.
6. Remove the 2 screws (1) from the console door hinge.
7. Remove the console door and the hinge assembly from the center console.




8. Remove the screws (1) that retain the console tray (2) to the hinge.
9. Remove the console door (2) from the hinge.




10. Remove the screws (1) that retain the armrest inner trim panel (2) to the armrest.
11. Remove the armrest inner trim panel (2).




12. Remove the screws (1) that secure the console door hinge (2) to the armrest.
13. Remove the console door hinge (2).



Installation Procedure





1. Align the center console hinge (2) to the armrest.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

2. Install the screws (1).

Tighten the screws to 1.6 N.m (14 lb in).





3. Install the armrest inner trim panel (2) to the armrest.
4. Install the screws (1) to the armrest inner trim panel (2).

Tighten the screws to 1.6 N.m (14 lb in).





5. Install the console tray (2) to the console door hinge.
6. Install the screws (1).

Tighten the screws to 1.6 N.m (14 lb in).





7. Install the cellular telephone docking station, if equipped with a Cellular phone, UV8. Refer to Cellular Telephone Docking Station Replacement.
8. Align the console lid and hinge assembly to the center console.
The center console door has alignment pins next to the top 2 hinge screws.
9. Install the top 2 console hinge screws (1).

Tighten the screws to 1.6 N.m (14 lb in).

10. Install the air vent cover (2).




11. Install the console rear cover screws (2).
12. Install the rear ashtray and lighter assembly to the center console. Refer to Cigar Lighter Housing Replacement - Floor Console.
13. Inspect the console compartment door for proper operation.
