Headlamp Replacement (SLS and STS RPO Code TT6, TT7 or TT8)

HEADLAMP REPLACEMENT (SLS AND STS WITH RPO CODE TT6, TT7 or TT8)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the low beam headlamp relay in order to disable the HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlamps.

CAUTION: The high intensity discharge system produces high voltage and current. To reduce the risk of severe shocks and burns:
- Never open the high intensity discharge system ballast or the arc tube assembly starter.
- Never probe between the high intensity discharge system ballast output connector and the arc tube assembly.

1. Remove the upper filler panel.
2. Remove the (1) fasteners securing the headlamp (2) to the headlamp mounting bracket.




3. Pull the headlamp assembly straight forward in order to disengage the locator pin at the outboard edge of the headlamp.




4. Remove the arc tube and starter cover (1) from the headlamp assembly (2).




5. Disconnect the arc tube and starter (2) electrical connector (1).




6. Carefully release the arc tube and starter cable (1) from the headlamp housing (2).




7. Disconnect the headlamp electrical connector from the forward lamp wiring harness.
8. Remove the headlamp housing assembly from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the arc tube and starter cable (1) to the headlamp housing (2).

IMPORTANT: Ensure the grommet attached to the arc tube and starter is properly installed and sealed to the headlamp assembly, in order to avoid water intrusion in the headlamp assembly.

2. Ensure the arc tube and starter cable grommet is properly seated.




3. Connect the arc tube and starter (2) electrical connector (1).




4. Install the arc tube and starter moisture cover (1) to the headlamp assembly (2).

IMPORTANT: Ensure the arc tube and starter moisture cover is properly installed and sealed to the headlamp assembly in order to avoid water intrusion in the headlamp assembly.




5. Connect the headlamp electrical connector to the forward lamp wiring harness.




6. Position the outboard portion of the headlamp in order to align the locator pin with the headlamp mounting bracket.
7. Press the headlamp rearward in order to engage the locator pin with the headlamp mounting bracket.




8. Install the fasteners in order to secure the headlamp to the headlamp mounting bracket.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the headlamp mounting fasteners to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

9. Install the upper filler panel.
10. Install the low beam headlamp relay.
