Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disable the SIR system.
2. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module.
3. Disconnect the steering wheel electrical connector.
4. Remove the steering wheel retaining nut.
5. Install J42578 (2) and J1859-A (1) to the steering wheel.
6. Using J42578 (2) and J1859-A (1) remove the steering wheel.
7. Remove the J42578 (2) and J1859-A (1) from the steering wheel.
Installation Procedure
1. Route the wiring through the steering wheel.
2. Align the splines on the steering wheel with the splines on the shaft.
3. Install the steering wheel to the upper shaft.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the steering wheel retaining nut.
Tighten the nut to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
5. Connect the steering wheel electrical connector.
6. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module.
7. Enable the SIR system.
