Folding Top Panel Replacement - Rear
Removal Procedure
1. Manually open the folding top as shown in the illustration. Refer to Folding Top Manual Operation.
The distance (A) from the windshield header to the leading edge of the folding top panel is 430 mm (17 in).
2. Place a protective covering over the interior and the adjacent body panels.
3. Remove the rear window garnish molding.
4. Remove the rear window lower molding.
5. Remove the rear quarter trim panel.
6. With the aid of an assistant, support the front roof panel on the folding top to prevent the panel from swinging down when you remove the bolts.
Remove the bolt (1) from the upper pivot link bracket (2).
7. Using a grease pencil, mark the location of the folding top panel bolts (1) to the lower pivot link bracket (3).
8. With the aid of an assistant, remove the bolts (1) from the folding top panel.
9. Note the number and location of any shims (2).
10. With the aid of an assistant remove the folding top panel (1).
Disassembly Procedure
1. Remove the upper weatherstrip.
2. Remove the lower weatherstrip.
3. Remove the rear window.
4. Remove the upper pivot link bracket.
Assembly Procedure
1. Install the upper pivot link bracket.
2. Install the rear window.
3. Install the lower weatherstrip.
4. Install the upper weatherstrip.
Installation Procedure
1. With the aid of an assistant, position the folding top panel (1) to the vehicle.
2. Apply LOCTITE(TM) Blue, GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) or equivalent to the bolts.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the bolts (1) to the upper pivot link bracket (2).
Tighten the bolts to 11 N.m (97 lb in).
4. Apply LOCTITE(TM) Blue, GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) or equivalent to the bolts.
5. Install the bolts (1) to the lower pivot link bracket (3). Do NOT tighten the bolts.
6. Install the same shims (2) in the original locations.
7. Align the folding top panel bolts to the grease marks on the lower pivot link bracket.
Tighten the bolts to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).
8. Manually close the folding top. Refer to Folding Top Manual Operation.
9. Verify that the folding top panel is aligned properly. Refer to Folding Top Clearance Gap Specifications.
10. If required, adjust the folding top panel. Refer to Folding Top Panel Adjustment - Rear.
11. Remove the protective covering.
12. Cycle the folding top under power through one complete cycle in both directions.
13. Inspect the folding top for proper operation.
14. Install the rear quarter trim panels.
15. Install the rear window lower molding.
16. Install the rear window garnish molding.
