Control Module: Service and Repair
Transmission Control Module ReplacementRemoval Procedure
Important: The replacement TCM MUST be programmed. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) in Programming.
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting
2. Remove the right front wheelhouse panel.
3. Remove the engine control module (ECM) bracket.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the transmission control module (TCM).
5. Remove the fasteners securing the transmission control Module (TCM) to the engine control module (ECM) bracket.
6. Remove the transmission control module (TCM).
Installation Procedure
1. Install the transmission control module (TCM) to the engine control module (ECM) bracket.
2. Install the transmission control module (TCM) fasteners to the bracket.
^ Tighten the fasteners to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
3. Connect the electrical connector to the transmission control module (TCM).
4. Install the engine control module (ECM) bracket.
5. Install the engine control module (ECM) bracket fasteners.
^ Tighten the fasteners to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the wheelhouse panel.
7. If a new TCM is being installed, program the ECM. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) in Programming. Programming and Relearning
8. Lower the vehicle.
