Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair
ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REPLACEMENT
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
CAUTION: Allow sufficient time for the engine to cool before removing the ECT sensor. A hot engine may cause an excessive coolant loss or a personal injury.
- Turn the ignition OFF.
- Remove the front compartment sight shields as necessary. Refer Sight Shields, Hood Adjuster, Hood Bumper, Hood Latch Replacement in Body Front End.
- Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the coolant temperature sensor.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
- Install the coolant temperature sensor.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten the coolant temperature sensor to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
- Install the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector.
- Inspect and fill the cooling system as necessary.
- Install the front compartment sight shields as necessary.
