Front Door Window Regulator: Service and Repair



WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACEMENT - FRONT DOOR

Removal Procedure





1. Raise the window to the full up position.

2. Remove the door trim panel. Panel Replacement

3. Remove the water deflector. Water Deflector, Check Link Replacement - Front Door

4. Raise and support the window in the full up position.

5. Through the access holes in the inner door panel, loosen the window clamp nuts 4 revolutions.

6. Connect the door trim panel wiring harness.

7. Lower the window regulator 3/4 of the way down.

8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the window regulator motor.

9. Remove the window regulator bolts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

10. Remove the window regulator from the door.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the window regulator into the door.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. Install the window regulator bolts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).
Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb in).

3. Remove the support from the window.

4. Lower the window into the window regulator clamps.

The window must be fully rearward into the window channel when it is seated in the window clamps.

5. Connect the power window motor electrical connector.

Important: Start the vehicle to ensure maximum power to the window motor. This is required to fully seat the window for adjustment.

6. Start the vehicle.

7. Raise the window to the full up position.
Tighten the window clamp nuts to 11 Nm (95 lb in).

8. Inspect the window for proper operation and fit.

9. Shut off the vehicle.

11. Install the door trim panel. Panel Replacement

12. The window motors need to be programmed/initialized whenever power is removed from the window motor. Window Motor Programming - Express Function
