ADVANCE SERVICE INFORMATION RESOLUTION
Subject:
Charging System Light On, "Battery Not Charging Service Charging System" Message Displayed, P2501 DTC Set (Reprogram PCM)
Models:
2005 Cadillac STS
with 4.6L Engine (VIN A - RPO LH2)
Supercede:
This bulletin is being revised to provide the correction information for Advanced Service Information Bulletin 05-06-03-004A. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 05-06-03-004A (Section 06 - Engine/Propulsion System).
Condition
Some customers may comment on a charging system light being illuminated and a "Battery Not Charging Service Charging System" message displayed on the driver information center (DIC). This condition may be intermittent and difficult to duplicate. Upon investigation, the technician may also find DTC P2501 set.
Cause
This condition may be caused by a PCM calibration issue.
Correction
Diagnose the concern using published diagnostic information. If routine diagnosis does not reveal any obvious cause, reprogram the PCM with the latest software calibration available in TIS. As always, make sure your Tech 2(R) is updated with the latest software version.
