Heater Hose - Inlet
HEATER HOSE REPLACEMENT - INLET
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 38185 Spring Hose Clamp Pliers
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
2. Raise the vehicle.
3. Remove the lower bolt from the heater pipe assembly at the thermostat assembly.
IMPORTANT: A mirror is needed to see the bolt, which is located next to the engine at the base of the head and at the top of the transmission bell house.
4. Lower the vehicle
5. Remove the cover assembly to the engine intake manifold.
6. Remove the battery tray.
7. Remove the lower bolt securing the battery tray to the panel assembly on the front air inlet housing.
8. Remove the nuts securing the panel assembly to the front of the dash.
9. Remove the panel assembly from the vehicle.
10. Using J 38185 slide the clamp back on the heater inlet hose.
11. Remove the inlet heater hose from the heater core.
12. Using J 38185 slide the clamp back on the heater outlet hose.
13. Remove the heater outlet hose from the heater core.
14. Remove the upper bolt of the heater pipe assembly at the thermostat assembly.
15. Remove the entire assembly from the vehicle.
16. Remove the heater inlet hose from the heater pipe assembly.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the heater inlet hose to the heater pipe assembly.
2. Using J 38185 slide the clamp back into the original position on the hose.
3. Position the entire assembly in the vehicle.
4. Install the upper bolt of the heater pipe assembly at the thermostat assembly.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (7 lb ft).
5. Install the inlet heater inlet hose to the heater core.
6. Using J 38185 slide the clamp back into the original position on the hose.
7. Install the heater outlet hose to the heater core.
8. Using J 38185 slide the clamp back into the heater outlet hose.
9. Install the panel assembly for the front air inlet housing to the vehicle.
10. Install the lower bolt securing the battery tray to the panel assembly.
Tighten the bolt to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
11. Install the nuts securing the panel assembly to the front of the dash.
Tighten the nuts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
12. Install the battery tray.
13. Raise the vehicle.
14. Install the lower bolt to the heater pipe assembly at the thermostat assembly.
Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (7 lb ft).
15. Lower the vehicle
16. Install the cover assembly to the engine intake manifold.
17. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
