Suction Hose Replacement
SUCTION HOSE REPLACEMENT
TOOLS REQUIRED
- J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
- J 45689 A/C Quick Joint Tool
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Using J 45689 (1), disconnect the suction hose from the evaporator by pressing the probe end into the 2 small openings in the plastic quick joint.
IMPORTANT: The body of the tool should be parallel to the A/C line.
3. Remove the suction hose retaining screw from the clamp.
4. Separate the liquid line from the A/C suction line bracket.
5. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
6. Remove the retaining bolt from the compressor.
7. Separate the suction hose from the evaporator
8. Remove the suction hose from the vehicle.
9. Remove and discard the O-ring seals.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Coat the new O-rings with refrigerant oil. Refer to O-Ring Replacement.
2. Install the suction hose.
3. Connect the suction hose to the evaporator.
4. Position the clamp (1) around the suction hose and engage.
IMPORTANT: Squeeze the clamp together until you hear it engage.
5. Gently tug on the suction line to ensure that the clamp is engaged.
6. Position the liquid line into the bracket.
7. Install the screw into the bracket.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten the screw to 1 N.m (9 lb in).
8. Connect the suction hose to the compressor.
9. Install the retaining bolt to the compressor.
Tighten the bolt to 9.8 N.m (87 lb in).
10. Install the air cleaner assembly.
11. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
12. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
