Collision Avoidance and Parking Assist System Diagnosis
DTC B1015
DTC DESCRIPTOR
DTC B1015 00
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Information Error
DIAGNOSTIC FAULT INFORMATION
IMPORTANT: Always perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure. Testing and Inspection
CIRCUIT/SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
When the ignition is turned ON, the object alarm detection system performs tests to diagnose critical malfunctions within itself. When the object alarm detection system has completed the power-up mode, the object detection module will establish communication with the body control module (BCM) over the serial data communication circuit. The BCM will then transmit the vehicle identification number (VIN) to the object detection module. The object alarm module will compare the ID received to data stored in memory. If the data stored in memory does not match the information transmitted by the BCM, the object alarm module will set a DTC and command the red parking indicator ON.
CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
Ignition voltage is between 9-16 volts.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
- The object detection module stored VIN digits does not match the digits stored in the BCM.
- The VIN stored in the BCM does not match that of the vehicle.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
- The object detection alarm module sets a DTC.
- The object detection alarm module commands ON the information center telltale red indicator.
- The object detection alarm module will send a serial data communication message to the instrument panel (I/P) to scroll SERVICE PARK ASSIST message on the driver information center (DIC), and the chime will sound.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
The VIN that is stored in the object alarm module matches the VIN stored in the BCM.
CIRCUIT/SYSTEM TESTING
1. Ignition ON, use the scan tool to request DTCs. Verify that DTC B1015 is set current.
- If DTC B1015 is history, clear codes and recheck.
2. Check the BCM for the VIN. Verify the correct VIN is programmed into the BCM.
- If the BCM has a VIN which is different from the vehicle then programmed the BCM with the correct VIN. Refer to BCM in Repair Instructions for programming procedure.
3. Check the object alarm module for the correct VIN. Verify the correct VIN is programmed into the object alarm module.
- If the object alarm module has a VIN different from the vehicle then programmed the object alarm module with the correct VIN. Refer to object alarm module in Repair Instructions for programming.
REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: Always perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure. Verification Tests
