Oil Pan Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Install the engine support fixture.
2. Drain the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
3. Remove the front frame.
4. Remove the front differential carrier, if equipped.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the engine oil level sensor.
6. Remove the engine oil level sensor from the oil pan.
7. Remove the oil pan bolts.
8. Important: The oil pan gasket is reusable unless damaged. Do not remove the gasket from the oil pan groove unless replacement is required.
Remove the oil pan.
9. Clean and inspect the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Cleaning and Inspection .
Installation Procedure
1. If required, install a new oil pan seal using the following procedure:
1. Clean any residual oil from the seal groove.
2. Work the seal into the pan groove in both directions around the pan.
2. Position the oil pan to the crankcase.
3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Install the oil pan bolts. Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown:
1. First Pass: Tighten the bolts to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
2. Final Pass: Tighten the bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the engine oil level sensor into the oil pan.
^ Tighten the sensor to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
5. Connect the electrical connector to the engine oil level sensor.
6. Install the front differential carrier, if equipped.
7. Install the front frame.
8. Fill the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
9. Remove the engine support fixture.
10. Inspect for oil leaks after engine start up.
